The original Shalom-Salam (Peace) T-shirt by Mira Awad.

The word PEACE can be read both in Hebrew and Arabic: Shalom-Salam.

Design © Mira Awad.

This T-shirt cannot be purchased elsewhere!

About the design: As a speaker of both languages, and a peace activist, I wanted to depict how intertwined our lives and our languages are here in Israel / Palestine. So I came up with this design where the word "Peace" can be read both as Shalom (in Hebrew) and Salam (in Arabic). Important: This is not a ready-made font that I used, but a manipulation of the letters to be readable in both languages.

This T-shirt is a unisex standard cut, so it's a good fit for both men and women, and should be compatible with international size charts for a standard t-shirt. However, it is always wise to consult the size charts available below, using both metric and imperial measurements of the garment for your convenience.

The shirt is made of 100% combed and ring-spun cotton, so it's very soft and comfy. The fabric is pre-shrunk, so there should not be any accidents during reasonable washing, and the print is of high quality and very durable.

With minimum care, this Shalom-Salam activist T-shirt promises to serve you for a long time ☺️

More about the design:

The design was made in 2014, during a military operation on Gaza. I printed the Shalom Salam logo I had created on a t-shirt and wore it to an Israeli-Palestinian joint peace rally. People immediately reacted to it, and asked me where I got it and that they would love to get one. I printed a number of T-shirts and handed them out to friends. Mostly artists like myself, who wanted to wear the peace statement. But with time, as demand rose, I went ahead and opened an online shop, where the T-shirt could be purchased. Looking back, this activist T-shirt was what started my e-commerce journey. Since then, this shop took on the shape of a social enterprise, where parts of the profits go to educational programs for tolerance and dialogue. Make sure to check our Good Word Project as well, maybe you'd decide to contribute as well ❤️
